Grinding

Highly precise grinding plays a vital role in many of the processes to provide components of the highest quality. At Middlesex Aerospace you can request a variety of grinding services workpiece for exacting dimensional accuracy and a fine surface finish, including;

After components have undergone grinding they can be sent forwards for further stages in-house including superfinishing if required. Grinding of your components is undertaken by a range of specialist machines within our facility:

Studer S33 & S40

The Studer grinding machines are Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) and able to grind nitride, chromed and HVOF coated components with either plain diameter, cam forms and squares. The Studer machines are also ideal for internal grinding to a depth of 1500mm, making them perfect for consistently precise finishing.

Jones & Shipman 1055

A byword for high quality grinding, the Jones & Shipman 1055 is a cylindrical grinder for parts up to 1500mm in length. For consistent grinding of components to a high standard this is a popular choice with customers.

Delapena

Our Numerical Controlled (NC) vertical honing machine from Delapena allows us to ensure both geometric and dimensional accuracy within your components. The Delapena works in a temperature-controlled environment to provide an exacting surface finish. It can also combine rotation and reciprocation to produce cross-hatching when required.
